about
The concept of graduation is one that is hard for me to wrap my head around. It is the closing of one door and the opening of another. It is the changing of your daily routine, people you talk to, and life as you essentially know it. I could not let a moment like this pass by so insignificantly, so I wrote this song as a gift to my generation, my friends, and teachers. This song is a critique, a summary, and a reflection of my entire educational journey thus far.
lyrics
"So where are you gonna study?"
Do you even know my name?
I didn't think so
Since we were young they've said we're special
"You're one of a kind"
God, I hope so
I don't think I'll make it out
But that's not what I care about
I know I’m not valedictorian
But I’ll do something big
And that’s a promise
My self-esteem's completely ruined
But I can solve for x
And that's what matters
I don't think I'll make it through
I'm not as smart or pretty as you
And I am such a nihilist
Pretending my grades don't exist
I would be lying if I said I wasn’t terrified
I think we all are
Maybe the point of school's the friends we made along the way
Or something like that
